The San Quentin Prison Art website is a collaboration between Julie Chrisler, the webmaster, and Daniel Landry, the artist. Daniel is currently serving time on death row in San Quentin State Prison in California. I have enjoyed working with him very much, he is an kind and thoughtful person as far as I can tell from corresponding from him for a number of years. I do not know the details of his crime(s) nor do I care, I am strictly working with him because I love his artwork and think it should be available to anyone else that feels the same.
Here is a picture of Daniel:
I am a widow living in northern California and spend my spare time working on producing products for online consumption. I have 3 adult children whom I love very much (of course), they are all gone from home so I have a lot of free time on my hands. I enjoy working on this website and hope that you enjoy the artwork we have presented here.
I do intend to expand and accept artwork from more inmate artists - I feel they should be given a chance to sell their art if they choose to do so. For some, it is the only money they will see as they have been abandoned by their family and friends. The can spend their money in the prison commissary. I know Daniel buys art supplies so he can continue making his glorious artwork.
Thank you for stopping by the website, and enjoy!
